In order to get the most fun out of a LAN, it is necessary to do a little pre-planning! Whilst participants are free to bring and play whatever games they want, having a common list of games will enable us to get straight into gaming rather than the fuss of downloading, installing and troubleshooting games on the day. The games are split into two main categories:
- Planned
- Supported
Planned games
These are outlined in each event’s timetable. Planned games played are split into two subcategories:
- BIG Games
- Tournament Games
BIG Games
BIG games can support the whole LAN party being in the same match, many of which are free or are often on sale. They also have support for dedicated LAN-only servers to minimise lag and ping issues.
Tournament games
Tournament games are generally run using a knock-out, league, or round robin system and played on the bigger screens for spectator involvement. Participants generally don’t need to worry about owning these games.
Supported games
Whilst the event’s timetabled games are the priority, supported games are other games we play in the free time between planned games and generally have offline installers and dedicated servers at the LAN.
